About Dixie
Dixie is our rock. She is the steady one—the same mare whether she’s been ridden regularly or had time off. She takes her job seriously and puts her heart into everything we ask. There’s no silliness or goofiness, and she is easy to handle in all aspects.
On the trail, Dixie walks out with purpose and is always ready to see new country. Under saddle, she has shown plenty of natural stop and rate. We started her on the cutting flag and cattle, and although life kept us from taking her far enough to show, we came to appreciate her mind and ability through the work we did together.
We raised Dixie and sold her as a weanling to friends, then had the opportunity to bring her home as a five-year-old. By Red Highdydoo and out of Heidi, she carries a maternal line that means a great deal to us. Her steady nature, heart, and ability make us glad to have her back in our breeding program.
Pedigree Highlights
Dixie is by Red Highdydoo, an NCHA earner of $1,306.56 and Iowa CHA 4-Year-Old Open Champion. His cutting record also includes a fourth-place tie in the Krebs Ranch Open Derby and finalist finishes in the Nebraska and South Dakota CHA Open Futurities.
An own son of High Brow Hickory out of Playin Dixie, by Freckles Playboy, Red Highdydoo brings established cutting bloodlines to her pedigree. Dixie pairs that heritage with the heart and versatility of her dam, MS Zanawhite—our Heidi.
