About Pistol
Gun Hired To Play, known around the ranch as “Pistol,” is a 2025 AQHA bay gelding with a pedigree that brings together Playgun and Sun Frost. By Hired Gun and out of Lizzies Got Frost, he combines cow breeding with the speed influence that makes this cross especially appealing for a versatile western performance prospect.
Pistol has a powerful hip, a deep chest, and a balanced way of moving. In our handling, he has shown a willing attitude and a curious, personable nature. We like him as a ranch horse or rope horse prospect, with cutting, reined cow horse, and barrel racing also worth considering as he develops.
Current Handling & Foundation
Pistol leads, loads, ties, bathes, and stands for the veterinarian and farrier. His groundwork includes lunging, saddling, ground driving, hobble training, and being ponied—giving him a useful foundation for the next stage of his training.
